Elves are a race of naturalized fey present on many worlds once visited by the Titans. Elves formed when some fey, influenced by Titan-seeded humanoid inhabitants' dreams, took on more human-like forms and personalities. Due to their low breeding rate and recursive origin, on many worlds they're relegated to auxiliary roles. However, in few situations they managed to climb to greater status due to their innate talent for magic.

Their unaltered counterpart are trolls.

Biology[edit | edit source]

As naturalized fey who took on more human-like features, elves are biologically very similar to humans, down to the placement of internal organs. A bipedal, mammal humanoid race, elves can be treated and poisoned with most of the same substances as humans. However, like all fey, they're allergic to cold iron, though it does not kill them unless ingested in large amounts.

Elves typically have much longer lifespans than humans. Elves do not mature until they're nearly 100 years old, but can live to be nearly a thousand years old, in lucky circumstances. Usually considered more attractive than humans, they preserve the appearance of youth for most of their lives until their eighth century when their hair thins out and grows white and their bodies quickly lose their characteristic agility. Nevertheless, old elves not only remain intellectually apt but often continue to grow more intelligent until their deaths. All that and their innate intuition for magic makes them prime candidates for wizards or other magic users.

Subraces[edit | edit source]

Elves are traditionally divided into a number of cultural and biological divisions.

  • High elves are the tallest and most magically talented elves with fair skin and hair. Often said to be aloof and usually consider themselves better than humans or other "lesser races".
  • Wood elves are slightly shorter than high elves and prefer to keep to the wilderness, living in harmony with nature. Sometimes, they are forces into this life by circumstance, such as systematic persecution of elves on Earth and sometimes they choose so of their own accord. Wood elves sometimes have darker skin colors, as well as red or green hair.
  • Sea elves are magically modified descendants of elves who escaped their world's progress by delving into the seas. Culturally very similar to high elves, sea elves have light blue skin, webbed fingers and toes and on some worlds, gills.
  • Dark elves are reclusive elves who live in their worlds' underworlds. Typically, they possess dark purple, dark blue or jet black skin and pristinely white hair. Although they too consider themselves superior, they're much more violently inclined and often live in strictly matriarchal societies (as opposed to most other elves egalitarian societies).
  • Sand elves live on some desert worlds and were forced by their circumstance into more extreme societies. Sometimes nomadic, sometimes occupying the crucial oases of their worlds, sand elves are more warlike and violent than most other types of elves.
